MARINA, Calif. — November 4, 2026. Marina’s first reported election-night results showed Mike Moeller leading the three-candidate mayoral race as voters also registered substantial early opposition to a proposed local utility users tax. The figures are from the November 3 initial reporting period, around 8:25–8:27 p.m. Pacific; they are not a certified November 4 final count.

Early mayoral vote: Moeller ahead

According to Monterey County Weekly’s election-night reporting, Moeller had 46.5% of the reported mayoral votes and a lead of 432 votes over second-place candidate Liesbeth Visscher at approximately 8:27 p.m. The third candidate is Ana Luz Acevedo-Cabrera. The City of Marina’s official candidate list identifies all three candidates.

Marina is choosing a successor to Bruce Delgado after his long tenure as mayor. A first-round lead is not the same as the official outcome; ballots still have to be canvassed.

Measure Q: 76% No in first returns

Measure Q would establish a 7% utility users tax. In that first count, approximately 76% of the reported votes opposed the proposal, according to Monterey County Weekly. The measure’s support level could still change as the county reports additional eligible ballots. This measure is separate from the mayoral contest and should be evaluated on its stated tax terms, not on any candidate’s electoral performance.

Where to see the next certified figures

The Monterey County Elections Department is the official administrator of the count. The newspaper’s county election-results roundup was updated the morning of November 4 and includes links to charts for Marina mayor, City Council District 4 and Measure Q. Residents should compare the charts’ timestamps before citing a new tally.
