MARINA, Monterey County — October 26, 2026. Proposed road and streetscape changes around Del Monte Boulevard and Reservation Road form part of Marina’s effort to improve its downtown for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and businesses. The city is planning landscaped improvements on Del Monte Boulevard and examining a modern roundabout at the Reservation Road intersection.
What is planned on Del Monte Boulevard?
Marina’s public Talk of the Town update describes a Del Monte Downtown Streetscape Project with a landscaped median and urban greening between Carmel Avenue and Reservation Road, within a broader project area between Highway 1 and Reservation Road. It lists a goal of putting the streetscape project out to construction bid by December 2026. That date refers to procurement, not a promise that building work will be finished by December.
The Reservation Road intersection
Separately, the city describes planning for a roundabout at Del Monte Boulevard and Reservation Road. A $1.7 million grant from the Transportation Agency for Monterey County is identified as a funding source, with further grant opportunities being pursued for full project delivery. The public update does not establish that the entire design and construction cost is fully financed.
Other transportation work
Marina’s City Council approved a Reservation Road corridor concept in June 2026 covering traffic calming and walking and bicycle improvements. The city says it is examining shorter-term changes as well as longer-term improvements, and is asking for more funding as projects develop.
What residents should monitor
Road users and local businesses should look for the actual construction contract, final engineering drawings, announced lane restrictions and accessibility measures. Temporary construction impacts and permanent traffic patterns should be evaluated through official public works notices, not inferred solely from an early concept.
